Checking out Shakeridge Road

Tuesday, January 9, 2018 –

We decided to get out and inspect the road repairs on upper Shakeridge Road near the junction of Hwy 88.  In November of 2016, the heavy rains washed the road down the canyon.  It took over a year for funding and repairs.  It’s open now.  They did a nice job and added several sections of guard rails.

We then went west on Hwy 88, looking for a place to eat an early dinner.  Not much open on a Tuesday in the mountains.  The OK Corral is only open for drinks, no kitchen yet.  So we settled at The Mountain Grill at Mace Meadows Golf Course in Pioneer.

Great atmosphere, food, and service at a reasonable price.  We’ll be going back!  On the way home Patty had some wine at the Whiskey Flats at the St. Goerge in Volcano where we ran into local friend Jim who picked up the bar tab, thanks, Jim.

Had an appointment at the VA with a dietician to insure we’d get some ensure (a high protein, high-calorie chocolate drink).  We scored, they’ll be mailing us great quantities according to the dietician.  We also received lots of tips on appetite and eating.

We again had lunch at the canteen which consisted of a grilled fish sandwich with potato wedge for Ron and a veggie burger for Patty.
